Why Cascades Learning?

Because learning thrives when it’s nurtured, not rushed.

Cascades Learning offers personalised, relationship-based support that meets children where they are — academically, emotionally, and developmentally. We prioritise confidence, wellbeing, and steady progress, creating a learning environment where children feel capable, calm, and supported to flourish.

About Ella

Ella is a qualified and experienced teacher with a background in primary education, tutoring, and student support. Most recently having taught at Waiheke Primary, she has developed working relationships with other kaiako across the schools on the motu ensuring her programme is aligned with the schools curriculum. Ella has been within education for 9 years and graduated from the University of Canterbury with a Bachelor of Teaching and Learning (Primary).
Ella is currently studying SPELD NZ Teaching Certificate in Specific Learning Disabilities. She has also completed Te Ara Reo Māori (Level 2) and is in the process of completing Tīkanga Māori (Level 3). Ella has experience working with the BSLA reading programme and Yolanda Soryl Phonics, which are often used in junior literacy. Over the years, she has worked with children across a wide range of abilities, learning styles, and needs — and she brings a calm, thoughtful, and deeply supportive approach to every session.

Her strength lies in building strong, trusting relationships with students. She takes the time to understand how each child learns best, what motivates them, and where they may be feeling unsure or stuck. From there, Ella tailors learning in a way that feels achievable, encouraging, and confidence-building.

As both an educator and a lifelong learner, she values curiosity, reflection, and growth — and believes that when tamariki feel supported, they are capable of far more than they often realise.

Our Name & Logo

The name Cascades Learning is inspired by both place and philosophy. Living and working on Waiheke Island, the natural landscape — water, movement, and growth — plays a strong role in our identity.

A cascade represents steady, continuous flow rather than force. It reflects how learning unfolds when children are nurtured: starting gently, gaining strength, and building momentum over time.

The seed within the logo symbolises potential — each child arriving with something already within them. With the right care, environment, and support, that seed grows and flourishes. This mirrors the heart of our approach: nurturing the foundations of learning so growth can happen naturally and confidently.

Together, the name and logo reflect our belief that when learning is supported with patience and care, children are able to thrive.
